Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine utilizing thin needles placed in different meridians or channels in the body. The needles are used to stimulate, move, or decrease Qi or flow. This helps to balance energy or release tension in the body.

The needles are thin and typically not painful with many patients reporting that they cannot feel the insertion of the needle at all.

Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine can be used to help balance and gently tonify systems in the body. It uses whole parts of the plant which work synergistically in the body whereas many pharmaceuticals take the active constituent of a plant, patent it, and combine it with other binders, fillers, and preservatives. Botanical medicine uses herbs in the form of tinctures, capsules, elixirs, and lozenges. Historically, botanical medicine has existed for as long as humans themselves. Naturopathic doctors utilize modern research as well as historical usage in combination when considering botanical recommendations for patients.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is based on the work of Hahnemann, who discovered that taking cinchona bark produced the same symptoms as what it cured when diluted to a significant degree. His work in the late 1700s and early 1800s created the Materia Medica, a catalog of symptoms and reactions to taking crude amount of various substances. Homeopathy uses highly diluted versions of those substances to treat a variety of conditions that may not respond to typical modern medicine.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses temperature differences in hot and cold water or towels to bring blood flow to a given area of the body and to help remove cellular waste products from stagnant tissues. Hydrotherapy helps to encourage lymphatic blood flow and stimulates the vis. Constitutional hydrotherapy uses wool blankets to wrap the body while hot and cold towels are placed on the chest and back. Constitutional hydrotherapy can also use sine wave stimulation to help with muscle relaxation and balanced digestion when indicated for the patient.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutrition is foundational for health. Cultural, environmental, financial and social factors all affect our views and relationships with nutrition. While Americans are trying to figure out how to live their lives in a more healthy way, there are massive industries that profit from people’s confusion. The weight loss industry is estimated to surpass $300 billion by 2030. At Natural Foundations Health Clinic, we focus on healthy, sustainable, and long-term habits that restore wellness and give life to patients rather than quick fixes or fad diets.

Sauna Therapy

Sauna therapy is an excellent tool to help improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and increase excretion of cellular waste products. This can help with cardiovascular health, cognition, lung function, stress reduction, and potential benefits with metabolic function and longevity.

Women’s Health

Women’s health focuses on the unique metabolic and hormonal factors in women. For decades women’s health has been understudied and under-funded. Naturopathic medicine shines in its focus on thorough evaluation, root cause analysis, gentle balance of hormones, and supporting proper nutrition targeted towards women.
